Tracking Undercarriage Wear on Your Excavator

Excavators spend the day carrying out heavy duty tasks such as digging trenches or picking up materials. Demolition is an even more demanding task, although it has the advantage of being stationary in one place, the swing of the machine house and movement of the arm and boom is hard work for the excavator. Tracking what the wear is like on the undercarriage, even though this type of machine sits in one place, is still important in your maintenance plan.
Check the wear on the machine's undercarriage with a daily visual inspection of the tracks. Depending on what your excavator is used for, the tracks may need to be replaced simply because of old age, but it could also be due to a variety of other reasons which will be touched upon in this article.
A daily inspection of the track will prevent failure. The operator should start the working day walking around the machine and examining the track. They should be looking for any cuts or tears on the track and also any indication that steel imbeds are showing. If these things are not spotted quickly, moisture or contamination could get into the track which will lead to failure of the part. If this happens the potential downtime of the machine could be worse than what it originally needed to be. When replacing the part, it is important that you purchase a high quality replacement, so that the machine lasts longer before the wear part needs replacing again.
Another thing the operator should be checking on the track is the tensioning; it should be fitted not too tight and too loose. To find out what is the right tension range, they should refer to the operation and maintenance manual.
As well as the track, the undercarriage components need inspecting. Although, daily inspection is generally too excessive, operators should regularly monitor it so that any problems are identified at an early stage. Components that should be checked include; idlers, sprockets and rollers. Idlers and rollers are permanently sealed making it hard to see any wear. Something to look for is moisture or fluid which may be leaking around the seal indicating a failure. If this happens, then you should replace the damaged wear part. In order to check the wear on the sprocket look at the teeth which should have a rounded end, if it has been worn out it would be more pointed. It is particularly important that you check this as you do not want to fix a new track onto a bad sprocket as it will accelerate the new tracks failure.
For all wear parts, the main thing to remember is to regularly inspect the wear parts. If you do this it will save your machine from a lot of damage which could have been prevented.

Kardashian's Intellect

Ka, Ka, Katie! Or is that Ka, Ka, Ka, Kardashian? Who the hell are these people anyway? Okay, I know Karen, and Kitty, and Kellie, isn't that right? Okay, nope, let me Google them.
Got it now. Kris 1, Kim, Kourtney, Khloé, Kendell, Kaylie, Kaela, Kris 2, Kanye, and Casey. Oops. How'd that 'C' get in there? Was someone applying lip liner instead of paying attention to the birth certificate? Maybe I shouldn't count Kaela and Kris 2 (Humphries). After all, they are both old news...
I have diligently refrained from clicking on any news at all about them. I don't want to encourage their exploits, or make that, exploitations.
And you can see that my disinterest has worked exceedingly well. I have no doubt they are quite aware of MY absence of clicks. I am expecting a call any moment.
I am certain each morning, they wake up and see if I have joined their ten million followers on twitter. They apply their makeup, put on their wigs, squeeze into their Spanks and sit around the breakfast table having the following conversation:
Kim: (wife to current husband, Kanye, daughter to Kris 1, sister to Kourtney and Klohe, half sister to Kendell and Kylie, ex-wife to Kris 2 and ex sister-in-law to Kaela):
Oh my god! Do you think SHE'S clicked on us yet?
Kourtney:(sister to Kim) I'll check my iPhone and see.
Khloé: I'll check my iPad!
Kris 1: No, girls, let me call our agent and ask him.
Kendell: I'll do it! I'll check my iPhone and my iPad!
Kris 1: No, sweetheart, you can't read.
Kendell: But MOM, I can turn on the TV and listen.
Kris 1: Yes, you are very, very good at not only watching TV but appearing on TV. Just don't read on TV. It does not promote the Kardashian intellect. Of which we have plenty, remember Kim's marriage to Kris 2?
Well, I remember it!
How could one not? I breathlessly awaited the nuptials.
(I wasn't sure which one was getting married, the one with the long, dark hair and all the makeup or the one with the long dark hair and all the makeup.) Even though the actual wedding was August 20, 2011, I had to wait until October 9th and 10th to see this extravaganza, billed as Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event! A two night special! And lord knows, I didn't want to miss a Kardashian event. There are so few of them. And good thing I saw it when I did, because about three weeks later the happy, glowing couple I had seen on TV filed for divorce. OMG. Too bad, so sad. Poor Kimmie. My heart bled for the girl. I just hope the publicity she got from it, not to mention the $18 million helped her cope with her loss.
But leave it to KK. She got right back up in that saddle. Way to go, girl! You spend show 'em! I believe it was sometime in early 2012 she was happily, joyously installed with Kanye! (You remember Kanye. Taylor Swift. Video Music Awards. Remember now?) Kimmie had finally met her match soulmate.
And what took place just yesterday? Another wedding! (have to Google to see where)... in Florence, Italy! This time without the hoopla, thank goodness. And she spent a paltry sum, just a tad more than William and Kate. She has learned! Only the immediate K's were in attendance... and an Italian tenor, Jaden Smith and oh yes, Bruce J. and North W., too.
Note to Kardashian girls: You can enjoy your breakfast. SHE has made up for non-clicking "Kardashian" today. Your momager agent would be happy.

6 Great Reasons to Try Online Classifieds

In today's society everything has become digitized. Young adults are choosing to get their news from the internet instead of the newspaper. Almost everyone today has a computer or some type of mobile device. Although the newspaper is not in immediate danger of being phased out, it will be eventually. With more people turning to digital news, that means less people are looking at the classifieds in the newspapers.
Classified ads have been shown to be increasing in use dramatically since 2005. When someone is looking to buy something at an affordable price, one of the first places they are likely to check are classified ads. When they're looking for a job, where do they turn? Classified ads. When they're offering a service, one of the best ways to market that service is, you guessed it, classified ads.
It's no wonder then that the web is filled with websites claiming to be the best option in posting classified ads. They've seen it as a tremendous marketing opportunity, but often they focus too much on their own bottom line, and not on the bottom line that you care about: your own.
Digital classifieds come with many benefits.
1. You can list with most classified websites for free. Most newspapers require you to pay a fee depending on the length of your ad.
2. By going digital it opens up the market in different areas besides just your hometown. You have the ability to communicate with people across the country, making it easier to find what you are looking for.
3. With online classifieds, you can buy, sell, find property to rent, and look for jobs.
4. Digital classifieds are easier to navigate. To search, you only need to enter in a brief description of what you are looking for or choose to do an advanced search. With quick searches it eliminates the need to browse over every section of the newspaper to see if what you need is listed.
5. Many people use the newspaper classifieds to look for jobs, garage sales, and other specific items. Classified ads are always going to be popular when looking for specific items.
6. Setting up an account is easy. They only require you to select a username and password as well as submit your email address. Once you accept the terms of service, you can then set up your own profile making it as detailed or as discreet as you wish.

A major tournament such as the football world cup needs a lot of infrastructure and considering that Brazil is going to host the next Olympic Games as well, the country is in the process of making huge infrastructure investments.
The draw will be held in Costa do Sauipe, a resort in the Bahia region of Brazil on December 6, 2013.
An Overview Of the Infrastructure Projects Involved
More than half of the stadiums hosting the tournament are brand new. Five others are being renovated. Some are ready and in the remaining, work is going on at a fast pace.
The investments involved are massive by any standards, with the construction or renovation of each stadium going to cost a few hundred million dollars. The National Stadium in the capital Brasilia is going to cost more than 500 million dollars.
Stadiums are not the only areas in focus. The world cup is going to see an unprecedented number of visitors and a lot of travel within Brazil as spectators move from one venue to another. Travel infrastructure, including roads, railways and airports are being added or renovated. Similarly, telecommunications infrastructure is also being modernized and enhanced.
The large number of visitors will also require other services such as hotels and food outlets. Although Brazil is not lacking in either of these areas due to the popularity of the country as a tourist destination, capacity has to be augmented and the overall quality has to be improved.
The above investments are just a small fraction of the overall investment. In short, Brazil's entire infrastructure will see a major transformation. The country will continue to reap the benefits long after the World Cup and the Olympics are over. Some estimates from people in the Ministry Of Sports put the infrastructure investments close to about 18.7 billion US dollars.
Huge Publicity, Advertising And Real Estate Opportunities
As Brazil becomes the focus of the world's attention in the next two years, according to reliable estimates, the number of visitors is going to increase by about 80%, which means a million extra visitors in the span of two years. But that is nothing compared to the number of people who are going to watch the events on television.
According to FIFA estimates, the combined viewership of the 2006 World Cup in Germany was about 26 billion. The event created a total of 71,000 hours of television broadcasting. The last World Cup in South Africa was broadcast by 245 channels in 204 countries. It is not too difficult to imagine the kind of viewership the 2014 tournament will generate. Publicity, branding and advertising opportunities for Brazil and Brazilian businesses will expand on a scale that has never been seen before.
The increased attention is already being felt in the real estate market. There is already a rush to buy properties before the prices get pushed up due to the upcoming sporting events. The money-spinning opportunities that the events will offer for real estate investors has not gone unnoticed.
Many people, who are looking for homes, apartments and commercial properties, intend to cash in on the huge number of visitors and the subsequent boost that the infrastructure investments will give to tourism. The World Cup and Olympics give an unprecedented opportunity to real estate investors to give their income streams a head-start as accommodation facilities will see demand beyond what they can possibly offer. Once the games are over, the same facilities will be kept busy due to the boost these events will give to the number of tourists visiting the country, especially the coastal regions of Bahia.
The Impact Of The World Cup On The Economy
Calculations by Ernst & Young reveal some astonishing facts and figures:
1: Production of goods and services for the World Cup will be close to USD 56 billion, which is more than four times what the country is spending on it.
2: Additional 6% increase in the GDP of the country during the period.
3: Three million additional jobs.
4: Food and beverages industry, tourism and utilities are likely to be the biggest beneficiaries.
5: The economic growth will be tremendous in the cities and states hosting the tournament.

Phuket Tour: Exploring the Pearl of the Andaman

Often dubbed as the "Pearl of the Andaman", Phuket actually is Thailand's biggest province, big enough in fact, that a first time visitor wouldn't think of it as being surrounded by waters in the form of magnificent beaches. This Thai island province was not very popular with travelers, but over time, the circumstances has changed. Nowadays, jetsetters arrive in droves, all very eager to experience both the exquisite natural beauty that the place offers as well as the thrill that can be had from one of its many fashion-forward, trendy night spots. Other equally thrilling activities that await Phuket tour takers include deep-sea-diving, white beaches, high-end dining, and much more.
For starters, the following attractions and activities would be a worth take:
Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park
A 125 square kilometer sprawl south of town, the Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park is an amazing natural continuity of beaches, estuaries, forested valleys, mangroves, mountains, and sea cliffs. It is also home to diverse species of fauna including drongos, hornbills, gibbons, monkeys, and tapirs, to name a few. Guided treks, both along the coast or inland, are available for the benefit of visitors.
Sino-Portuguese Architecture
For the best architectural experience of Phuket, have a stroll along Dibuk, Krabi, Phang-Nga, Ranong, Ths Thalang, and Yaowarat. Thailand's oldest foreign bank, the Standard Chartered Bank, is a perfect showcase of Sino-Portuguese architecture that is so prevalent in the region. Also a good architectural fare are the THAI Office, the old post office building, and the Phra Phitak Chyn Pracha Mansion, a residential property that has been restored and now serves as an upscale restaurant and culinary school chain.
Laem Phromthep
Located at the island's southernmost point, Laem Phromthep is a good vantage point for viewing the luscious Andaman Sea. Sunsets here are a spectacular sight, attracting hordes of visitors who want to have a first hand experience of a panoramic Phuket sunset against the backdrop of Andaman currents.
Phra Phitak Chyn Pracha Mansion
Formerly an abandoned structure, this mansion was just recently restored. The mansion has been left uninhabited for decades, and as already noted above, it currently serves as a high end restaurant and culinary school chain.
Phuket Fantasea
Located east of Kamala, Phuket Fantasea is a multimillion dollar (read: US$60 million) theme park. Performances are presented with an accompaniment of Las Vegas quality light-and-sound-system. More specifically, a show combining Thai dance and herds of elephants will captivate both children and adults alike.

Yamaha R15 Expert Bike Review

The Yamaha R15 is just the right bike for the most horrendous of riders amongst us to hit the racetrack and learn how to ride fast. It's so technologically advanced, so technically correct, so confidence inspiring, so smooth in its power delivery, so planted with its vice-like grip around corners and so stable with the Deltabox frame working its magic all through that even the clumsiest of riders; the ones who are so slow that they're considering committing suicide; will get hope once they ride it.
All the components of the Yamaha R15 work in harmonious unison and right from the time you get astride the bike, it feels 'just right'. The footpeg-bar-saddle geometry, the height of the handlebar, the feel of the clutch and brake levers; this bike is extraordinarily well put together in every perceptible way. It's sporty but not uncomfortably so, revvy but not torquelessly so, small and light but not powerlessly so and its suspension is tuned for great dynamics but not stiffly so. Full points to Yamaha boffins for bringing out the most uncompromising track oriented motorcycle without trading off any of the virtues that a street rider desires.
On the track, all it would take for even the most inexperienced rider to find the humongous difference between the R15 and the rest of the bikes is one lap. The new Yamaha is leaps and bounds ahead of its competition; it's like chalk and cheese, if I maybe allowed to be a little cliched. Turn the ignition on and the engine emanates the most refined and revvy hums you have ever heard from a 150cc bike. Slot it in the first gear, and you'll realize the gearbox works like nothing else; butter-smooth with loads of feedback. The gear ratios are terrifically well sorted out, delivering loads of punch to accelerate hard from low speeds and to deliver the grunt to keep accelerating after reaching the triple digit figures.
Around the MMSC racetrack, the Yamaha R15 was the only bike of the quartet to have a perfectly perfect gear for every corner. All other bikes feel as if they are over or under-revving at some or the other corner, but on the Yamaha R15 you have a gear that enables you to power out without the limiter cutting in too soon or the low revs urging you to shift down.
Apart from the smooth revving, punchy engine and an equally brilliant gearbox, Yamaha R15 also has the best underpinnings to qualify as the niftiest handler around the circuit. If putting your knee down is something that you have been dreaming of ever since you learnt how to spell BIKE and have been failing to achieve the feat till date, just take this bike around the racetrack. Like an angel, the R15 will have your wish granted in no time. You're more of a SWAT commando than a rider aboard this Yamaha.
Just point and shoot, and another corner goes down - the Yamaha R15 really makes it that simple. The beauty of it all is that the bike never scares you as you try to go faster. It always lets you know that you could do better, improving you as a rider with every lap unlike some other bikes which would scare you to death every time you tried to take them to their limit. Supremely accomplished and incredibly effortless, the Yamaha R15 is a class act and it'll take a Herculean effort from any manufacturer to match it; in its class at least
